Why Trust Your Clients with Us?

How We Handle Cases

At Lowe & Company, we see immigration laws and regulations, free trade agreements, labour market opinions and other procedures not as ends in themselves, but as tools to help clients achieve their business and personal objectives. We'll often combine several of these in crafting solutions for clients.

We practise only business and immigration law. That's what we're good at. We don't advise on other areas of law, or on tax, real estate, insurance or other financial matters. That's what you're good at.

When we act for your clients, we treat them as if they were our own. But when we're done with the immigration process, we'll send them back to you. Our goal is to exceed your client's expectations, and yours.

Advising Your Clients

Your clients may not even be aware of citizenship and immigration rules that affect them. The following articles will give you some background to introduce these issues to your clients.

Case Studies

  1. A Canadian law firm's construction firm client was behind schedule on a $70 million subway extension project, and urgently needed to bring in a project manager from the USA. The PM was inadmissible due to a 20-year-old drunk driving conviction, and labour market opinions were taking more than three months to process. We presented their case on an urgent basis, and were able to get the LMO approved in 24 hours, and the work permit and temporary resident permit processed at the consulate in the US within a week.
  2. A US immigration attorney had a number of foreign tradesmen who had been lured to the USA by an unscrupulous recruiter. The promised jobs were fictitious, and the tradesmen fell out of status. We were able to help the tradesmen obtain certification to work in Alberta, place them with employers and obtain work permits for them.
  3. We assisted a national Canadian law firm with executive transfers for one of their clients. Their client, with 5,500 employees in North America, needed to parachute a new Canadian president, two top executives, and a management consultant as soon as possible. We were able to expedite the preparation of the work permit applications, and then attended with the executives personally at the border to have them processed the same day.
  4. One of the largest Western Canadian law firms wanted to develop an immigration law practice, but none of the partners or associates had the high level of expertise needed. We advised several of the law firm's partners and associates in handling work permits and immigration matters for over a year, providing materials and resources for them to develop this practice specialty.

A Final Word

At Lowe & Company, we find practising immigration law to be a tremendously meaningful calling. From the junior receptionist to the senior lawyers in the firm, we realize that what we do, and how we do it, can have a profound impact on our clients. Profit is not an end in itself, but flows from doing excellent work with honesty, integrity, and genuine care for our clients.

When we encounter demanding clients, stressed out and impatient with the visa process, we try to empathize with them. After all, over half of our team at Lowe & Company were immigrants themselves once! By taking a personal interest in our clients, we can touch their lives and make the immigration processes more bearable.

And that makes the world a better place.
