Americans and Mexicans (NAFTA)
The North American Free Trade Agreement between Canada. USA and Mexico is designed to facilitate investment and trade across borders. It makes it easier for American and Mexican citizens to obtain work permits as investors. intra-company transferees. traders and professionals.
NAFTA allows specified professionals to obtain work permits without labour market opinions. Since we usually process these applications within two weeks. or sometimes even the same day. this is an extremely useful tool.
The NAFTA investor category is particularly attractive. Americans or Mexicans making a "substantial investment" in Canada can obtain work permits to operate that business. There is no minimum investment under NAFTA. and even investments under $100.000 may qualify.
